I bought a baseline Polo Vivo 1.4 in April 2010. I took it for its 30000 kilometer service two weeks ago. We drove it down to Scottburgh in KZN and it only used half a tank of petrol down and between half and a quarter tank back, which I think is very impressive.

Placed an order last week for the 1.4 2 door. I’ll be picking it up next weekend, so excited to be going back to VW after a horrible experience with Honda, never again.

Hi, somebody told me that you can buy a new Vivo for R2500.00 per month, is that true? And do you need to put down a deposit? If so, can you apply if you are blacklisted? How much deposit must you put down?

My advice is buy something ex-stock. I waited 9 months for my new car and know of a few others that have waited the same amount of time. Anything you REALLY want is worth waiting for. I was prepared to wait. I now reap the benefit. Really love my new car. Respect VW, you make awesome cars… Just a pity that you bought up so many companies in an era where the personal touch has become a very rare bird indeed.

I have had the pleasure of going into one of the dealerships. I managed to see the 2-door version. I must say guys, this car was cheaply built. Everything is an extra. From the aircon to your wheel caps, it feels like a Golf 1 indeed. The only extras are power steering and 2 airbags. Better than the Golf, though.

Like Lawrence said, where are the 2-door version pics?. I’m conflicted about buying a Vivo 2-door or a Fiat Punto emotion, since it comes with air-con and 15-inch tyres, although it’s slow and fuel consumption is a bit higher. VW probably does not want us to see how it looks with its centre cap rims and the fact that you do not have the option of changing the rims. Only at R10000 more for the 4-door version you’ll have that choice. I really do want to see pics of the car; maybe I’ll be happy with the looks and get one. VW, please get your act together.

I’m sorry to critisise, but I’m a fan of VW. No car that they have manufactured is a bad car, in fact I’m looking forward to owning a Vivo as soon as I get to see one. If anyone’s got an idea where I can get one, please be sure to let me know.

Does the Polo Vivo operate the radio/CD from the steering? Old Polos are good, but lack that.
